The Amerex High-Performance Fast Flow Purple K Dry Chemical Fire Extinguishers (Class B:C) are high-power extinguishers that use a potassium bicarbonate agent (called Purple K) to stop Class B (flammable fuel/gas) and Class C (electrical equipment) fires. Purple K stops Class B fire by breaking the chain reaction and is also electrically non-conductive. Compared with standard-performance Purple K extinguishers, High Performance Fast Flow Purple K extinguishers have higher discharge range and rates, making them the ideal choice for high-risk industries such as oil, gas, chemical, and utility industries where fast knockdowns of three-dimensional fuel fires are needed. Highly effective Purple K agent
The Purple K agent is a specially fluidized and siliconized potassium bicarbonate dry chemical that is non-abrasive, is water-repellent, and does not produce toxic effects when used to extinguish fires. It’s also shown to be at least 4 to 5 times as effective in extinguishing fires as carbon dioxide and more than twice as effective as sodium bicarbonate.

Fast Flow extinguishers discharge at higher flow rates, which means they deliver more pounds of chemical per second. This makes FF models the safest and fastest extinguishers for knocking down three-dimensional and fast-moving fires that often occur in high-risk areas. Because of the higher discharge rate, they deplete faster than their Compliance Flow counterparts and standard-performance extinguishers.
User-friendly design
High Performance extinguishers feature extra-large stainless steel handles and ring pins with extra clearance for firefighters’ gloved hands. The pull pin has a large loop for easy pulling, and all units are bar-coded and printed with bi-lingual labels. Because these extinguishers have fewer parts, they require lower maintenance and repair costs over the entire life of a unit. Recharging a unit is inexpensive without cartridges to replace.

The cylinder is further protected by high-gloss polyester powder paint. They also have a chrome-plated brass valve which is heavier-duty than aluminum valves. The simple stored pressure design minimizes moving parts, which then minimizes chances of unnoticed tampering, clogged elbows or hoses, and other malfunctions that commonly occur with cartridge-operated extinguishers. All units have a molded vinyl ring at the bottom to add extra protection for the paint.
